Meet the Grammy-winning producer and songwriter behind hits for Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Jimmy Wayne and many more as Joe West stops by for a visit on The Steve Freeman Podcast.
We have a lengthy discussion about the state of the music industry, the future of songwriting, Joes Apprentice Academy for aspiring studio engineers, our love of filmmaking and the new documentary that Joe has written, produced and directed called Limb-itless: Adventure Songwriting. The documentary focuses on Joe meeting Gabe Adams and tells the story of them heading off into the canyons of Utah to find friendship and a song then fly back to Music City to turn their creation into a record, all while the true story is subliminally unfolding… With enough perseverance, passion and heart any goal is achievable!

People throw around the term "Writers Block", but is it a real thing, or is it our brain's way of telling us that we are over processing and trying to cram too much information in.
I really think that we can overwhelm ourselves to the point of the creative side of our brains shutting down. I don't think that we impose writers' block on ourselves or that we simply all of the sudden run out of creative ideas.
Writers' block is a real thing, but you can't fight your way through it or create your way out of it. Sometimes you just need to step away and free your mind and in doing so we open ourselves up and create space in our brains for something new to occupy.
I hope you enjoy this episode!
